Protech Elite tournament proves a huge hit
Badminton Geelong hosted elite players from around the country at a major tournament, with $4000 in prize money on the line.



The Protech Elite Series Two Open was held on June 24 and 25 at the Geelong Badminton Centre at the Leisuretime Sports Precinct.
The Open ran concurrently with a Protech Junior Circuit 4 event for under 13 and under 17 players, with top Australian juniors competing.
Geelong Badminton Academy head coach Naman Bhardwaj was the event director.
Naman said the tournament showcased exceptional talent, providing an enjoyable experience for players, spectators and sponsors.
“We sincerely thank our volunteers for a great job all weekend and Badminton Victoria for all its support.”
Thursday night comp winners awarded
The spring season of the Thursday night competition drew to a close with a pair of hotly contested finals recently.
The section two Scorpions team proved they had a sting in their tails, with Erica Kovacs (emergency) Sarah Kremar (C), Landon Taylor, Thivya Mahendran and Matthew MacAdam (L-R below) pinching the win.

Speaking of tails, the section one team of Tim Conway, Sean McBride, Tracey McInerny and Gary Tjipto (L-R below) lived up to their name, with the Wagtails flying home to victory.

Geelong hosts another top junior tournament

Badminton Geelong will again host elite junior players from around the country.
The Junior Circuit 5 for under 15 and under 19 players will be held on August 12 and 13 at the Geelong Badminton Centre at the Leisuretime Sports Precinct.
It follows on from the hugely successful Protech Elite and Junior Circuit tournaments held last month.
Geelong Badminton Academy head coach Naman Bhardwaj will again serve as the event director.
The event promises an exciting showcase of top junior badminton talent.
It also enhances the reputation of Badminton Geelong’s ability to run key events and bring top talent to the area.
